I have always been reserved/shy in nature, but have matured over the last few years and become more open. I love nature and the outdoors, I love visiting national parks when it’s quiet. I avoid busy and noisy environments. I like to read books and articles. About Her
- Eye Colour: Brown
- Hair Colour: Black
- Height: 4ft 10inch
- Build: Slim
- A Bit About Yourself – personality / hobbies:
I love exercising although do go through phases where I lapse. Overall however, I am very active. I have an interest in natural skincare, castles/museums, reading fictional books, photography (mostly landscapes, nature, buildings), video games, meals out with friends and family, arts and crafts, occasionally watching tv shows and films, writing/journalling and generally learning and trying new things and visiting new places.
Personality wise I would describe myself as someone who is generally outgoing, chatty and sociable however I also like having time to myself and need my own space. I am quite a private person.
I am assertive when needed and will speak my mind however will always strive to do so in a respectful way. My parents have brought me up to be independent and have the confidence to always try and do things myself rather than rely on others so I am confident and mature in that sense. Having said that I think it’s important to always keep that ‘inner child’ side of your personality and know how to have a laugh and a joke with the right people.
I am keen to travel after marriage. I would also be interested in exploring the possibly of doing short-term volunteer work abroad if circumstances permit and my husband comes with me and is something that he would also be interested in doing.
- Favourite Islamic Speakers: I don’t listen to many talks and do not have favourite speakers
- Favourite Islamic Books:
The Ideal Muslimah is a great book as it is extremely thorough and covers all important life stages.
- Do you wear the headscarf? Yes
- Do you wear the abaya/jilbab? Yes
- Do you wear the niqab / gloves? No and no intention to wear one after marriage.
- I am assuming you pray 5x a day – if you do not, please do not use this service. In the last 12 months – how many times would you say you have missed a prayer? N/A
- Level of knowledge / seeking knowledge of Islam?
My level of knowledge is basic. I strive to follow Islam according to the Quran and Sunnah and am not a cultural person. I would like to attend more classes at Green Lane Masjid to increase my knowledge although many classes occur during the weekday so can be difficult but also I guess because it is something that I need to be more active in giving time to. I have worked on and off on an Islamic course delivered by the Islamic Online University which was set up by Bilal Phillips which I have found really useful. I can be quite wary about attending many talks as it can be difficult to know whether the speaker is legitimate or not.
- How long have you been practising? Approximately 5 years
- Level of “secular” education?
Psychology degree, interest in potentially doing a Masters in the future if finances permit.
- Are you currently working? If so, where?
Yes, Research within the NHS.
- Do you want to work after marriage? Provide as many details as possible.
I would like to work after marriage however if possible, provided this does not put financial strain on the husband, I would like to have the option to work part time if I want to so that I have time to manage household duties and increase my knowledge of Islam, attend lectures etc. I would also like to explore the possibility of fostering.
If I have children of my own I would like to have the option to not work when they are very young and only work part time when they are a bit older if I feel confident that this does not affect their upbringing and there is someone trustworthy to look after them such as parents/in-laws.
- How soon are you looking to marry?
My preferred approach would be to have the nikah quite quickly once compatibility has been established and avoid unnecessary meetings/chats etc. before marriage. However, I would prefer having the walima, move in together etc. after a bit of time of getting to know each other better for instance 6 months as I think this would make the adjustment period much easier. I am open to other options depending on the individual’s circumstances.
- Are you willing to relocate? Yes
- Describe yourself in 3 words?
- Independent
- Confident
- Funny
- Give 3 Strengths That You Think You Have:
- Organised
- Hard working
- Caring
- Mention 3 Weaknesses That You Have
- Sensitive (although I am not sure if I am more so in comparison to other women!)
- Can be a bit uptight (not very laidback)
- Not always very good at communicating verbally
I can certainly work on the second and third point but being sensitive is just who I am and I can’t help that.
- Is your family practising or are they cultural?
My parents pray five times a day, fast etc. however do tend to lean towards cultural practices and attitudes.
- Information about your family – siblings etc?
I have one older brother and one older sister who are both married Alhamdulilah. I live with my parents and two younger brothers.
- Can you recite the Quran with tajweed? Are you learning?
I have done a couple of tajweed courses and currently trying to find a new course as think that it is useful to refresh on this every so often.
- What languages can you speak? Fluent English, enough Bengali in the Sylheti dialect to get by.
- Level of usage of social media? I use Facebook and Twitter to keep up to date with offers in my favourite shops. I use Instagram to share photos and look at photos posted by others as I have an interest in photography as previously mentioned. I do not use social media for the ‘typical’ reasons that people use it i.e. do not post pictures of myself or share any personal aspects of my life, nor use it to interact with friends or strangers.
- Do you pluck your eyebrows? No
- Do you wear makeup when you go out? No
- Do you watch movies / listen to music? Occasionally watch movies and TV shows
- Can you cook? My cooking skills are probably 4 out of 10 mostly because I have never lived away from home and not had a need to.
- Do you have any health problems that you know of – INCLUDING RUQYAH RELATED ISSUES
I have bruxism which is a tendency to grind my teeth. I wear a bite guard at night to help alleviate this. This isn’t exactly a health problem as such but it can lead to migraines, ear ache and other aches and pains.
Past jinn/magic issues quite a few years ago but no problems now Alhamdulilah.
What She Is Looking For
- What age range are you looking for? Ideally 27-35
- What are the 3 most important things in a potential spouse?
- Someone who is independent and able to look after themselves. That is not to say that I think that a wife should not look after her husband and vice versa, however I have seen too many instances where the relationship between the husband and wife looks like that of a mother and child with the husband appearing to be completely incompetent and incapable of looking after themselves and doing the most basic of things. It is as if they have gone straight from being molly-coddled by their mother to being molly-coddled by their wife which is extremely off-putting. People always say women look for love and affection from their spouse and men want respect- I think it can be very difficult to respect someone and have any faith that they can be the man/the protector in the relationship if they act completely helpless and aren’t even able to think or do anything independently.
- I am looking for someone who has the maturity and strength to be a leader within the household so that they can support both themselves, their wife and their children to be pious and practise Islam according to the Quran and Sunnah especially in this difficult and challenging climate.
- Someone who has a gentle, good humoured and playful nature with those close to them whilst being serious in matters relating to the religion and being mindful in terms of how they conduct themselves amongst non-mahrams.
- Would you prefer a man with a short / full beard? Is this a preference or a must?
No preference- not everyone can grow a long beard. As long as it is a beard according to Sunnah.
- Trousers above the ankles – is this obligatory in your opinion? My understanding is that this is an obligatory for males?
- Describe the level of practising that you think you are looking for? Someone who matches or is similar to what I have put in the other sections of the form.
- Give 3 personality traits that you look for? Honest, strong-willed, caring
- Give 3 personality traits that you cannot stand?
- Someone who does not have the maturity and sense to live according to their means i.e. being stingy or over extravagant
- Laziness
- Hot tempered
- Are you open to someone who has been married before? Not sure, would depend on the circumstances for example if they were widowed but ideally would prefer not to as I haven’t been married before.
- Would you consider being in a polygamous marriage? No
- Would you consider a divorcee with children? No
- If the brother listens to music – would you consider him? No
- Would you consider someone who watches movies? Yes
- What level of gheerah should a man have? Explain this?
I think it is important to have gheerah and take this responsibility seriously however, I think sometimes it can go to extremes and be a matter of control, mistrust and insecurity on the man’s part as opposed to actual protective jealousy.
So for instance I would not expect a Muslim man to be accepting of their wife being put up on stage for the world to take pictures on their wedding day, or chatting alone and unnecessarily with his friends. However, I think to expect a woman to never speak to another man is unrealistic and excessive. Or for instance looking through her phone messages, controlling her every move or needing to know exactly where she is at all times. I think mutual trust and respect is vital in a marriage.
Overall however, I think men can often be very protective when it comes to men that are strangers but overly relaxed when the man is a relative or a close friend when in actual fact they are the greater danger. Therefore, I think it is important that they understand that male relatives such as the brother-in-law etc. are not mahrams for the wife. The husband should therefore make sure that they support and help facilitate them not being alone or spending excessive, unnecessary time together.
- Would you marry someone of a different ethnicity? I would be open to considering this however would be easier for me if they were of the same ethnicity.
- Would you consider living with your inlaws?
Yes I would consider this if there was an actual need for example he only has one parent who therefore relies on him for companionship as they no longer have their own husband/wife. Or elderly parents who might require a lot of help and support around the house or there is a risk of them falling etc.
Please note- I would only consider this provided there aren’t any non-mahrams living in the household. It would also depend on whether I could see myself getting on with the parents and us living in harmony which can be difficult if for instance our lifestyles, upbringing and expectations are completely different- I don’t want to go in to a situation where I cause arguments and fights between family members. Furthermore, if the in-laws live in an environment where they have Star Plus on blast 24/7, have taweez in the house, have other bidah going on, then I will not consider living in that environment.
I am not in support of living with in-laws just for the sake of culture and there ends up being 15 people in one tiny household all relying on their one daughter-in-law/sister-in-law to essentially act as a maid for them even though everyone is physically and mentally capable of looking after themselves, and deep down inside even the husband wants to move out and have his own privacy but doesn’t have the backbone to tell his family and worries about “what people will say”. I think it’s also important to note that we all have a duty to look after our parents therefore whether you are a man or a woman you should be doing that, not just passing on that responsibility to your wife.
- How long should as a minimum, should he have been practising for? 2 years
- Would you marry a revert? Yes I would consider it however Bangladeshi background would be easier for me.
- Would you consider marrying someone with ruqyah related issues? No, if it is in the past then that is fine but if they have current issues then I would not consider it.
- If there’s anything else that you are looking for – please mention it below?
I will not consider someone who works in a bank or other riba based type establishments or someone who smokes.
I am keen to increase my knowledge of Islam so would want someone who is supportive of me attending lectures and studying etc. It would also be great if the person knew Arabic or was learning as this is something that I would really like to do. Someone who would consider making hijrah if circumstances permit. I am aware that I have mentioned quite a lot of desired characteristics and it is a bit of a wishlist. I am just highlighting as much as possible so you hopefully get a good understanding of what sort of person I am however I would obviously consider potential proposals who does not tick every box.

- A Bit About Yourself – personality / hobbies:
Bismillah.
I come from a closely knit family, my relationship with my parents is excellent Alhamdulillah. My father is an approachable gentleman. My mum is alright too. May Allah preserve them.
I try to adhere to the Quran and Sunnah according to the understanding of the Salafus Salih seeking a balance in everything I do. I do not follow one particular madhab but always try to implement the authentic sunnah regardless of which madhab it belongs to.
It's difficult to talk about oneself without sounding self righteous but I will try and portray an honest representation of myself. I try to fulfil me obligations towards Allah by praying on time and with mindfulness. Hayaa is of utmost importance to me so I do not talk to non mahaarim men unnecessarily. Neither do I mix with my cousins. I am quite 'strict' when it comes to segregation and would like my husband to have some gheerah. As a family, we do not attend mixed gatherings so ideally I would like to marry in to a family who respect this principle.

Nowadays, everyone is trying to earn quick money and this page is just a small attempt in raising awareness about the effects of riba, forex trading in the economy/deen as well, what scholars say about working in accounting firms, insurance etc. I studied this field before, so I have a bit of understanding in addressing these issues pertaining to the youth.
